DIVORCE RESET BRAINSPOTTING

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting works simultaneously on the brain and the body and pinpoints where you’re feeling any dysregulation.

Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach designed to help process and release trauma. It is a root cause resolution therapy that takes a “bottom-up” approach, meaning it starts by working with the mind-body connection. Unlike traditional cognitive therapy, which follows a “top-down” approach by starting with the mind, Brainspotting begins by addressing the physical sensations in the body.

Brainspotting was developed by David Grand, building upon his previous work with Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. While EMDR uses side-to-side eye movements combined with talk therapy, Brainspotting utilises a pointer to help identify the brain spot that corresponds to the client’s felt sensations in the body, such as tightness in the chest, butterflies in the stomach, or tension in the neck.

During a Brainspotting session, I guide the client to focus their gaze on a particular brainspot. As they maintain this focus, I hold a safe and supportive space for them to explore and release the thoughts, memories, and emotions that arise. The client may experience sensations in different parts of their body, such as tightness in the chest, butterflies in the stomach, or tension in the neck.

Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that can effectively address a wide range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and other challenging experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which primarily works with the mind, Brainspotting facilitates the release of trapped emotions and traumatic experiences held within the body.

Brainspotting and Trauma

Brainspotting helps to locate trauma and helps with dealing with triggers.

Learning how to not react to triggers but giving you the tools and techniques to respond to triggers when they occur in the future as you will feel better equipped to do so.

Brainspotting timestamps trauma in the past so that you do not keep living there and

recognize it as a past event.

Gina Bee - Qualified Brainspotting Practitioner

I have personally found that Brainspotting is more effective than some other modalities such as EMDR and CBT therapy having personally experienced Brainspotting as a client.

Being a qualified practioner in Brainspotting, I have found that my clients have benefitted so much and experienced major breakthroughs. This is because Brainspotting works on root cause resolution within the body and the brain resulting in immediate release and shifts.
